Items needed

  • Cast iron skillet

  • Chef’s knife

  • 3 mixing bowls

  • Tongs

  • Measuring spoons and cups

  • Mixing spoon

  • Cutting board (wash between cutting meat and cutting vegetables)

Ingredients needed

  • 2lbs chicken breasts; pounded and scored

  • 1 cup Tempura powder (associate link for the one I buy)

  • 4 cups of oil for frying

  • 1 cup water; split in half

  • 6 tbs chili powder; split in thirds

  • 2 tbs garlic powder; split in half

  • 1lb strawberries; diced; split in half

  • 1 head red cabbage; chopped

  • 1 cucumber; julliened

  • 2 tbs gochujang

  • 2 tbs ketchup

  • 4 tbs mayo; split in half

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • 2 tbs rice wine vinegar

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Buns of your choice

Directions

Chicken Breast

  • Score the chicken and place in a bowl with water 1 tbs of chili powder and a little salt and pepper

  • Put oil in the cast iron pan (or any other pan) at a medium high heat; heat to 300ºF

  • Mix half the water with tempura, 1/3 chili powder, a pinch of salt and papper, half the garlic powder

  • Coat chicken in the batter

  • Fry each breast for 5-6 minutes or until internal chicken temp is 165ºF

  • Let rest on paper towels

Strawberry gochujang secret sauce

  • Whisk gochujang, ½ strawberries, brown sugar, ketchup, mayo, 1/3 chili powder, a sprinkle of salt and pepper

Slaw

  • Mix cabbage, cucumber, half the strawberries; half of the mayo, rice wine vinegar, 1/3 chili powder, a sprinkle of salt and pepper until thoroughly mixed
