Hello everyone,

Happy Friday! I’m sorry I didn’t post this yesterday, but the family was watching Final Space! We are getting prepped to go to a book signing in a couple of weeks and kiddo is going to be gone for a week, so we took the opportunity to just spend some time as a family.

This was a lot of fun to make and I even recruited my husband to help roll it out since my hand is broken. I had someone on the show turn one of them into Cassandra from Doctor Who… although, these don’t need moisturized; they are so perfect in every way.

A little history on this dish; There are many stories that lead to Italy having pasta and even more stories about how ravioli’s came to be; so I’m just going to tell you a couple of these and you can guess yourself!

One of the theories is that pasta traveled to Italy from China through the silk road, hence us choosing it for the ending of our show. It is said that when Muslims started migrating out, they brought noodles with them; which turned into the pasta that we know and love today.

Another story is that Arabs migrated to south Italy and was eventually absorbed into Rome; when it was absorbed is when pasta became commonplace in Italy.

For ravioli, there are 2 stories of how it came to be; they both led to the same things happening; which is that ravioli was for rich and affluent people up until the point that they could become mass produced.

One tale says that a merchant put a bunch of left overs and egg yolks in pasta and boiled them. He then used them in order to sell to affluent people.

The other tells a story of a royal family wanting something similar to dumplings; so their chef whipped up a ravioli that was full of meats and cheeses. The family loved it and then other families started to have them made for feasts as well.

Just a few tips; roll them out as thin as you possibly can; a pasta roller would work best, but you can do it as well! If they’re too thick, they will become very gummy and give you a weird texture. Make sure they are all well pinched or else your filling will come out!

Thank you so much for reading this and hopefully cooking along with me! Don’t forget to go follow the Cooking Show! We want to see you cooking with me while learning the history behind the food. There is just something so beautiful about learning to appreciate a meal that you make with your hands, a meal that has been made by millions of people before you, that started somewhere completely different.

If this is your vibe you can find more on Threads and my Discord. These are the places that you can interact with me and tell me what you want to see on the show or in the blog!

And don’t forget to subscribe to the blog!

Thank you again for being here! Have a wonderful day and we will see each other again very, very soon! And don’t forget, even when you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you. You are cool, you’re amazing, you’re talented, and you are where you are supposed to be. One day your circumstances will be different and that will be okay to, but you will always have Momnoms in your corner
