Hello world,

I’m unsure if you guys know this, but this weekend Nashville suffered one of the most devastating winter storms in it’s history. Over 300k houses without power, trees exploding, ice quakes, the works.

I am not a person who knows most of these things happening to us this winter, like what the heck is an ice quake? And trees can explode when they’re too cold?? I’m sorry but that’s terrifying.

My house is one of the houses that lost power completely and the warmest it has been in the house is 39ºF. We were all cuddled up around boiling water (thank god for gas stoves!) in one room to survive the nights where it went down to a single digit.

I got to test my no lights cooking skills and they definitely passed the test. Not my first rodeo cooking in a blackout; shout out to working at Bacon Bacon during a blackout all those years ago. The only difference is, it wasn’t freezing and I could feel my hands and feet.

We have had the pleasure of being in a warm house today at our friend’s house, who just got power back. So I have thawed enough to write that this is a state of emergency. If you’re thinking of going to Nashville in the next few weeks, please know that we need to rebuild. It has been so hard for all of us.

I lost my car to an exploding tree, yes you heard it right, a tree exploded on my car. I use that car for catering, picking up the kiddo, and pretty much everyday life here. It is a huge hit on us and really sucks.

We are going to stream on Twitch to help fundraise to get us back where we need to be, but this is honestly the scariest and weirdest experience that I have EVER had.

The cats, kiddo, and husband are all warm right now; we hope that the next storm this weekend doesn’t take out all the power again and we can be back at home soon.

I promise more food to come soon. I have about 6 more posts already mostly finished, just need to edit photos and then we will be ready to go!
