Grab a cocktail, relax, and get ready for the weekend!
What are you guys doing this weekend?
I got invited to the J-Pop Summit, so I’m thinking of going there either tomorrow or Sunday and doing a blog post on it after. I think that sounds so fun, especially tasting and photographing all of the Japanese Cuisine that they have to offer.
I’m trying to convince G that all of us can go, because I can bring a guest… and well, B would be attached to him.
My best friend left for China yesterday, I’m really sad about that. But I’m glad that her and her little one get to explore a new country and meet family together.
And, I’m putting together a menu for my other best friend’s baby shower. I’m super excited about it because I get to use my creativity with colors as it’s Wes Anderson themed.
B started teething really bad, he’s had a fever, wanted to sleep, and be on me all day, so I haven’t gotten much done. But that’s okay, because sometimes you really just have to live in the moment and give it your all. However, I made this amazing salad for lunch that he wolfed down. (Teething makes him not hungry)
One of my favorite drinks when I used to go out was a Tequila Sunrise, but I wanted to do a twist on that. And add whiskey instead of tequila. So, I created a “MomNom Sunrise” which you drink afterdark!
The colors turned out perfect. Instead of the usual grenadine, I wanted more flavor. I whisked together carbonated berry water and strawberry preserves. It goes well with the whiskey and the orange juice.
I took a sip of it and the first thing I said was, “Man, if you’re a whiskey lover.” And then I said, “I don’t really drink hard liquor anymore.” So least to say, I drank ½ and feeling pretty toasty.
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 Tbs Strawberry preserve
- 1/4 cup berry carbonated water
- 2 shots of whiskey
- Pour orange juice into tall glass
- Whisk preserve, water, and whiskey together
- Pour over a spoon on top of the orange juice
I suck at taking photos of drinks, does anyone have any tips that they could throw my way? I always feel that they look so blah.
