Instant Pot Steamed Broccoli with cheese
I had already planned today’s blog about 5 months ago, not knowing that I would be doing a series of posts on making vegetables taste better.
I wanted to use the Instant Pot as my main source of cooking because people don’t realize all of the things that you can do with the Instant pot.
Well, did you know that you could steam broccoli? Neither did I for the longest time. Until one day when I was experimenting and found out that you can! And it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. You just put the Instant Pot at Low Pressure for 0 minutes.
I tried it several different ways and this came out the best. The broccoli was still green and had a little bit of a crunch to it.
They were cooked perfectly.
Instant Pot Broccoli
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 2 Tbs Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Tbs smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup water
- Toss broccoli with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper
- Add water to Instant Pot
- Put steaming basket down and add broccoli
- Set low pressure for 0 minutes
- Serve as is or with cheese sauce
You know the only way that I would eat broccoli when I was a kid?
I decided to whip up a cheese sauce while the broccoli steamed. It was super quick and easy to make.
- 3 tbs butter
- 2 tbs flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 tbs garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Heat butter in a medium sauce pan on medium high heat
- Whisk in flour
- Slowly whisk in milk, let simmer until thickened
- Add cheese, garlic powder, and salt
This is the perfect recipe for kids or picky adults who don’t want to eat their veggies. I mean having cheese pretty much makes anything better, right?
